The Green Fabrication Lab develops new process technologies that greatly reduce environmental impact. Focusing on fine particles, it pursues the green synthesis of fine particles, including nanoparticles, and new methods for joining and assembling them as desired. The lab accepts students through the “Smart Green Process Field,” a collaborating field of the Department of Environmental and Energy Engineering in the School of Engineering and the Division of Sustainable Energy and Environmental Engineering in the Graduate School of Engineering. Lab visits are accepted at any time.

The Additive Manufacturing Lab studies how to create and optimize the structure of components through smart processes that control joining and coating with ultra-fine precision at the nano and micro levels. Using computer-aided fabrication systems and welding systems, the lab works on processes that freely join and coat metals, ceramics, and polymer materials. Aiming for harmony and coexistence with the environment, the lab's goal is to contribute to a sustainable society that is kind to the global environment. The department's page also introduces research that uses industrial 3D printers to make use of materials such as slag left over from steel smelting and shells left over from seafood processing.

The Fabrication Mechanisms Lab is a field based at the Multi-dimensional Fabrication Research Center, which is attached to the Joining and Welding Research Institute of Osaka University. The center has the following fields: Green Fabrication, Additive Manufacturing, Fabrication Mechanisms, Laser Fabrication, and Advanced Fabrication. The faculty members listed for this field also belong to the Composite Mechanisms field (Kondo Lab) in the Joining Mechanism Research Division. The Kondo Lab is a cooperating chair of the Graduate School's Division of Mechanical Engineering (Micro Mechanical Science Division), and lists a metal additive manufacturing system and a scanning electron microscope among its lab equipment.
