0 student voices
The Nagata Lab conducts clinical practice and research on the process by which a child is conceived, is born, and grows through relationships with parents and others, focusing on the perinatal period through infancy and early childhood. The lab deals with psychological problems surrounding pregnancy and childbirth, babies born with some kind of risk such as low birth weight, and very early intervention for children with developmental disorders. Working with specialists from other professions at partner organizations, the lab also studies support for relationships between families and children who are hard to raise or hard to connect with, and psychological support for caregivers who struggle in their relationships with their children, such as in cases of abuse. Before joining the university, Professor Masako Nagata worked in the pediatrics department of a general hospital, where she was involved in mental care for families and support for parent-child relationships in obstetrics and the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
