Shoji Yuen, Professor
0 student voices
To guarantee that programs behave as their developers intended, the Yuen-Nakazawa Lab studies how to prove, using mathematical methods, that programs satisfy specific properties. Because the possible inputs are generally infinite and cannot all be tested, the lab studies model checking, abstract interpretation, type systems, and related techniques. The lab also studies improving software reliability through reversible execution, a theory that treats formal languages through algebra, and development methods for real-time concurrent systems. The lab belongs to the Department of Information Systems, Graduate School of Informatics, Nagoya University.

Yuichi Kaji, Professor
0 student voices
Professor Yuichi Kaji's lab specializes in information theory and information security. The lab investigates the security of cryptography and digital signatures, that is, how well they can withstand attacks. It works on improving digital signatures with a view to the practical use of quantum computers, and on attacks against homomorphic encryption.

Shuji Morisaki, Associate Professor
0 student voices
The Morisaki Lab studies technologies that objectively demonstrate that software has values such as the safety and continuity of products and services. Software has become indispensable in every part of social life, including telecommunications, finance, online shopping, transportation, automobiles, satellites, and home appliances. The research deals with technologies that consistently support the entire lifecycle of software development and operation processes, including requirements, design, implementation, testing, maintenance, and operation.

Tutomu Murase, Professor
0 student voices
The Murase Lab researches fundamental technologies for mobile networks. It operates as the Applied Network Research Group in the Information Infrastructure Network Research Division of the Information Technology Center, Nagoya University. It is also a cooperating chair of the Department of Information Systems in the Graduate School of Informatics, and its students are enrolled in the Graduate School of Informatics. The lab works on research to realize communication that is comfortable anytime, anywhere.

Takahiro Katagiri, Professor
0 student voices
The Katagiri-Hoshino Lab studies generative AI, numerical computation, and software auto-tuning, with high-performance computing (HPC) at its core. Its research addresses the shift from "HPC where humans write everything" to "HPC where AI and humans collaboratively design, generate, verify, and optimize." Using supercomputers, the lab works on massively parallel computing, large-scale machine learning, GPU computing, and quantum-computer-related technologies. Undergraduate students in the School of Informatics, Department of Computer Science can list this lab as a preference when they are assigned to labs in their fourth year.

Hajime Shimada, Associate Professor
0 student voices
The lab of Associate Professor Hajime Shimada researches network security, cybersecurity, network operations, and computer architecture. In network security, it works on detecting and classifying malicious traffic and protecting servers. In cybersecurity, it works on detecting and classifying malware and automatically collecting threat intelligence. In network operations, it works on feature extraction and OpenFlow. In architecture, it works on computer architecture, low-power architecture, dependable architecture, and processor architecture.

Takeshi Hamaguchi, Assistant Professor
0 student voices
Prof. Hamaguchi of the Software Theory Division studies software development using formal methods. The lab belongs to the Department of Information Systems, Graduate School of Informatics, Nagoya University. The courses he teaches include Discrete Mathematics Exercises, Non-procedural Languages Exercises, Computer Science Experiments I, and Computer Science Experiments II.

Ichiro Ide, Professor
0 student voices
The Ide Lab studies the processing of multimedia data, centered on video and including images, text, and audio. Video contains not only images but also text, speech, and other sounds, so it can be processed effectively only by understanding each medium together as a whole. The lab conducts video processing research jointly with Professor Hiroshi Murase of Nagoya University, Professor Shin'ichi Satoh of the National Institute of Informatics, and others. The lab recruits students through the Department of Intelligent Systems, Graduate School of Informatics.

Tomoki Toda, Professor
0 student voices
The Toda Lab studies speech information processing, music information processing, and sound environment information processing. For speech, the lab covers voice conversion that changes voice quality, speech synthesis, speech recognition, spoken dialogue, and speech translation. For music, it covers singing voice conversion and synthesis, automatic music transcription, and music source separation. For sound environments, it covers acoustic event recognition, anomalous sound detection, and sound source separation. This page is Professor Toda's personal website; the lab has a separate homepage.

Daisuke Deguchi, Associate Professor
0 student voices
The Deguchi Lab researches pattern recognition, centered on recognizing and understanding video and images. With the major goal of augmenting and supporting human visual function, the lab is divided into a human sensing group, which targets people, and an environment sensing group, which targets the environment around vehicles. The human sensing group studies ways to make daily life more convenient through person detection, action recognition, and similar technologies. The environment sensing group studies how to use vehicle sensors to support safe and comfortable driving. On the lab's website, it is introduced under the name "Chair of Fundamental Intelligent Informatics (Deguchi)."
