A lab that measures the workings of land and water ecosystems through the eyes of satellites.

The Yang Lab studies quantitative satellite remote sensing of Earth's biosphere and its applications to ecosystems. The lab targets both terrestrial vegetation and aquatic ecosystems, analyzing them by comparing and integrating the two. Satellite ecology is a field that builds on satellite technology to observe and understand how ecosystems function, from the regional scale to the entire globe. By combining field observations with satellite observations, the lab aims to capture photosynthesis and the carbon budget more accurately.
