A lab that explores the mechanisms and threats of extreme weather such as typhoons and heavy rain.

The Storm and Extreme Weather Lab studies the structure of extreme weather that causes meteorological disasters, such as typhoons, heavy rain, and violent winds, and the mechanisms of their formation and development, through analysis of satellite and meteorological data and numerical modeling. The lab also studies the regional-scale atmospheric environment and Asian monsoon variability that form the background of extreme weather, and how extreme weather will appear in future climates.
