The lab works to build a safer society by uncovering the mechanisms of slope failures and landslides.

The Slope Conservation Lab aims to clarify the mechanisms by which slope failures, landslides, and debris flows occur, and to contribute to a safer society. Based on the results of disaster-site surveys and field observations, the lab conducts model experiments, numerical experiments, and terrain data analysis. It seeks to clarify the mechanisms of sediment movement caused by the interaction between hydrological processes and topographic change. The lab also conducts research on forecasting and predicting disasters in advance and reducing the damage they cause.
