The Environmentally Harmonious Industry Lab studies the conservation and management of the water environment, the recycling of materials, and the creation of energy-saving industries. The lab uses techniques such as water quality analysis and water treatment, the analysis and treatment of trace contaminants, and the analysis of satellite and land-use data. The lab combines field surveys and experiments with model-based analysis to carry out research that is useful in practice. The lab belongs to the School of Global Environmental Studies. For graduate school, students can choose either the Department of Environmental Management in the Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies or the Department of Urban and Environmental Engineering in the Graduate School of Engineering.

The Energy and Environmental Science Lab studies the various atmospheric environmental problems that arise from energy use. Its main focus is tiny airborne particles (aerosols) produced by the combustion of fossil fuels and biomass, as well as by Asian dust and pollen. These particles change as they are transported and affect the climate and human health, so the lab studies their properties and transformations through observation and experiments. The lab belongs to the Graduate School of Energy Science and accepts lab visit requests by email. It held open labs in spring 2025 and spring 2026.
