The lab conducts research on free-electron lasers and renewable energy.

The lab develops quantum radiation sources that use high-brightness electron beams and studies their applications. At the Uji Campus, the lab has developed its own compact mid-infrared free-electron laser facility (KU-FEL) and makes it available to users both inside and outside the university. The lab also conducts international collaborative research on introducing renewable energy in the ASEAN region.
