Assistant Professor Takayuki Kameoka takes haptics, virtual reality, and human-computer interaction as research themes. The listed research fields are electronic devices and equipment, control and systems engineering, perceptual information processing, and human interface and interaction. Assistant Professor Kameoka is in the Media Design Division of the Faculty of Design, and holds a concurrent appointment in the Department of Design, Graduate School of Design.

Mao Kudo, Assistant Professor
0 student voices
The lab of Assistant Professor Kudo studies signage planning, which guides people to their destinations safely and comfortably, and the design of pictograms. Focusing on the characteristics of visual cognition in people with intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and similar conditions, the lab aims for designs that more people find "easy to understand." Its research covers everything from investigation, analysis, and evaluation to the implementation of the design. Drawing on Assistant Professor Kudo's teaching experience at special needs schools, the lab also emphasizes how to teach design and how children can apply what they have learned in their lives afterward.

Kiriko Toh, Assistant Professor
0 student voices
In the field of web design, Assistant Professor Kiriko Toh studies forms of information design and communication on the web. The lab explores how to structure content to take advantage of the characteristics of the web, visual design that improves usability while clearly expressing a distinctive identity, and the potential of GUI design from a UX perspective. The lab also studies ways to use database-driven websites and their development as marketing tools. The lab has also researched the impressions that fonts give and their readability.

BLANCO Laura, Assistant Professor
0 student voices
This lab's research field is "instructional design in foreign language education," the specialty of Assistant Professor Laura Blanco. Assistant Professor Blanco belongs to the Department of Media Design in the Faculty of Design, and is listed as a faculty member of the Media Design Course in the Department of Design at the School of Design. At the graduate level, Assistant Professor Blanco is also listed among the faculty of the Media Design Course in the Department of Design at the Graduate School of Design.

Akira Omoto, Professor
0 student voices
The lab studies how to measure, evaluate, control, and reproduce the sound field of enclosed spaces. After research on applying active noise control to noise barriers and on the adaptive algorithms that such control requires, the lab has recently focused mainly on relatively small enclosed spaces. The lab also investigates methods for rationally integrating technically accurate sound field reproduction with the staging techniques used in artistic settings, as well as the social implementation of sound field reproduction systems. From fiscal year 2020 onward, the lab has added acoustic welfare engineering, which aims to apply such systems to human welfare, as a keyword of its activities.

Tokihiko Kaburagi, Professor
0 student voices
Professor Tokihiko Kaburagi conducts research to clarify more fundamentally the abilities humans use in communicating by speech. The lab investigates how speech is produced when speaking, how it is perceived when listening, and how the two depend on each other. The professor teaches courses on phonetics, speech signal processing, and speech information processing at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Toshiya Samejima, Professor
0 student voices
Professor Toshiya Samejima specializes in acoustic engineering, conducting research on analyzing sound and vibration systems through theory and numerical computation, as well as research on controlling them. The subjects include musical instruments, stage equipment, electroacoustic transducers such as loudspeakers and headphones, ocean acoustic waves and seismic waves, and the vibration and radiated sound of railway rails. In its control research, the lab applies the ideas of passive and active control to musical instruments and electroacoustic transducers. The lab also conducts research on physical-model sound sources for electronic musical instruments.

Masayuki Takada, Professor
0 student voices
The lab, which specializes in psychoacoustics, investigates the effects of sound on people, focusing on sounds that are easily perceived as noise and on the sound environments around us. It evaluates and analyzes these effects from psychological and physiological aspects, and explores how sound should be designed. Past research themes include sound quality evaluation of mechanical sounds, vehicle horns, the sound environment around childcare facilities, and the sound environment of university campuses. Professor Masayuki Takada is a faculty member of the Acoustic Design Course in the Department of Design, School of Design.
