An endowed research division with a professor who develops epigenome analysis technologies.

The Nakatani Higher-Order Life Dynamics Lab is an endowed research division established at the Medical Institute of Bioregulation, Kyushu University. Principal Professor Yasuyuki Ohkawa specializes in epigenetics, genome regulation, chromatin biology, stem cell biology, and trans-omics medicine. Prof. Ohkawa develops and applies genome and epigenome analysis technologies to elucidate the mechanisms of cell fate determination, tissue homeostasis, aging, regeneration, and disease onset. In recent years, Prof. Ohkawa has been advancing research on muscle stem cells, immune cells, and hepatocytes using spatial omics and 3D genome analysis.
