The Kasuya Lab, part of the Fusion Simulation Lab, studies plasma physics through computer simulation. Its specialty is simulation of fusion plasmas, but its targets are broad, including space plasmas, and the lab aims to pioneer new research methods spanning science and engineering. The lab welcomes students who are interested in plasmas or who want to deepen their understanding of nature through simulation, and invites them to visit the lab.

The Theoretical Plasma Physics Lab studies plasma physics and its applications. Its main application is magnetic confinement fusion, and recently it has also been working on areas such as space propulsion. Using simple theoretical models, the lab aims to clarify the physical processes behind the behavior of complex systems. The lab's website presents it under the name “Kosuga Lab.”

The Non-equilibrium Plasma Dynamics Lab (Moon Lab) experimentally studies turbulent plasma and how structures form in it. Plasma is a state of matter found everywhere in the universe, and research on it leads to a better understanding of nature and to technological innovation, including nuclear fusion. Turbulence is thought to play a major role as a mechanism by which plasma escapes (turbulent transport), and understanding it is essential for realizing nuclear fusion. The lab's main educational and research theme is to precisely measure turbulent fluctuations across a wide range of time and spatial scales, and to analyze the data to find new insights and laws.

The Plasma Information Control Lab studies how to understand and control the properties of high-temperature plasma exceeding 100 million degrees, with the aim of developing fusion power reactors. Using the QUEST spherical tokamak, the lab investigates the mechanisms of particle and heat flow (transport) inside the plasma and develops methods to control them. Because measuring instruments cannot be inserted directly into high-temperature plasma, the lab also develops its own diagnostics that use laser light, microwaves, and ion beams. On the lab's website, it is introduced under the name "IdoHasegawaKinoshita Lab."

The Beam Plasma Diagnostics Lab studies how to confine and control the high-temperature plasma, exceeding 100 million degrees, that is essential for fusion power generation. Because solid probes cannot be inserted into plasma, the lab develops diagnostics that use laser light, microwaves, and ion beams, and investigates the behavior of turbulence, which is thought to cause the flow of heat and particles. Using the QUEST spherical tokamak at Kyushu University, the lab is also developing methods that use machine learning to determine and control the position and shape of the plasma. On the lab's website, it is introduced under the name "IdoHasegawaKinoshita Lab."
