The lab focuses on corporate environmental conservation efforts and trends in environmental business, and studies the policies and institutions that can reduce environmental burden while supporting economic development. It also looks at initiatives related to the SDGs and at corporate sustainable finance. In the undergraduate lab seminar, students analyze companies' financial and non-financial data and examine it from an economic perspective. In graduate school, students are expected to pursue their research with a research question of their own: what kinds of institutions and policies would lead people to act in more environmentally friendly ways.

The research is divided into sustainability analyses of production activities, consumer behavior, and supply chains. On the lab's website, it is introduced under the name "Nakaishi Lab."
