A unit that develops molecular and nano materials and structural materials for using hydrogen, water, and CO2.

The Materials Conversion Science Unit (AEM) is one of the research divisions of the International Institute for Carbon-Neutral Energy Research at Kyushu University. Its goal is to develop molecular and nano materials and structural materials based on new science of surfaces, interfaces, and microstructures for using hydrogen, water, and carbon dioxide. Research is carried out in two areas: catalytic materials and structural materials. The principal investigators include faculty members from the Faculty of Engineering, the Institute for Materials Chemistry and Engineering, and other units.
