The lab controls disorder in atomic arrangements to create nanomaterials that help reduce CO2 emissions.

The Ultrafunctional Energy and Nanomaterials Lab is a lab at the International Institute for Carbon-Neutral Energy Research (I2CNER), which conducts fundamental research aimed at reducing CO2 emissions. The lab aims to develop new ultrafunctional materials by designing chemical composition and controlling lattice defects. Its research centers on experiments and detailed evaluation of nanostructures, combined with theoretical studies and machine learning. Master's and doctoral students are admitted through the Department of Automotive Science in the Graduate School of Integrated Frontier Sciences.
